East Lake Courts

Text Box: Located in the neighborhood of the same name, at the base of Missionary Ridge, East Lake Courts is considered by many to be Chattanooga Housing Authority's (CHA) 'diamond in the rough."  From its 1940 opening through the 1960s, this 433-unit family development was one of the most popular and in demand  of CHA's sites. Today, almost two-thirds of the units have been completely modernized and the site is being reconfigured to accommodate such amenities as adequate parking, fencing, playgrounds and crime prevention.  With the restored charm of large courtyards, original terra cotta roofs, weathered copper porch roofs and pedestrian way, East Lake Courts is on the way back to its former prominence.
