Board of Commissioners ~ Chairman Eddie Holmes
Text Box: Mr. Eddie F. Holmes is married to Mrs. Fannie K. Mitchell Holmes and the father of Ms. Coretta L. Holmes (Playwriter and Author). Mr. Holmes is the past president of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. He also serves as the Vice President for the Tennessee State Conference of NAACP Branches. As president of the Chattanooga Hamilton County NAACP he established Back-To-School / Stay-In-School Programs in the Hamilton County School District. The BTS/SIS Program is an incentive-based program seeking the retention and graduation of at-risk youth, particularly African Americans and other people of color. In addition to the BTS/SIS Program, Mr. Holmes established the Academic, Cultural, Technology, and Scientific Olympic (ACT-SO) Program. ACT-SO Program is a yearlong enrichment program designed to reward student to excel in academic excellence. Mr. Holmes is retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority after 33 plus years. His duties include providing civil engineering dam safety and integrity checks at the following locations: Great Falls, Watts Bar, Chickamauga Dams and Raccoon Mountain Pump Storage Project. He also served as a collateral duty Equal Employment Opportunity Councilor. Other areas of involvements: Former President of the Chattanooga District Layman Association of the Chattanooga Hamilton Baptist Association Former President of the Chattanooga Human Rights Human Relation Commission Former Chairman of the Finance Committee for Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise Board Former Chairman of the Development Committee for Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise Board Executive Director of T & D Ministry Management which includes Touch & Deliver Contemporary Singers, Ultimate Praise Spiritual Dancers, Unlimited Praise Spiritual Dancers, & T & D Youth Workshop. Past member of Advisory Board for Re-create 2008 Original member of the Carver Center Advisory Board Member of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Minority Advisory Board Mr. Holmes has received many honors and awards including the honored Medger Evers Leadership Award. Mr. Holmes is a member of the Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church where he serves as secretary to the Board of Deacons.
