Text Box: The early ‘70’s response to urban renewal replacement housing needs, desegregation and privatization was “scattered site” public housing developed by the private sector and sold to public housing agencies. Chattanooga’s first was the 98-unit Greenwood Terrace development built on the eastern slopes of Missionary Ridge. Greenwood is blessed with an on-site office, a recreation/community room, outdoor recreation and a pristine environment. Shopping is within a half mile, and public transportation is readily available. Several of the apartments on the single story, duplex site are fully accessible to the handicapped.
